Deccan International has successfully applied the live “move-up” technology for real time police, district-to-district car transfer identification. This new deployment and assessment tool applies empirical models that project response times as a function of call rates, number of available cars and district size. Deccan’s solution incorporates sophisticated decision-support algorithms that combine historical crime trend data with real-time information on locations of vehicles to optimize the use of field resources and improve operating efficiency.

The tool is built to continuously listen to CAD status changes to display real time police car coverage maps and recommend optimal transfers that reflect department policy. Such a tool would help eliminate the current problem of transfers being composed in a “seat-of-pants” manner, with systematic transfers that improve response times to 9-1-1 calls and in turn improve public perception of policing effectiveness.
