Fire/EMS ADAM: Overview
Fire/EMS ADAM, Deccan’s flagship product, is a strategic planning tool
for Fire Chiefs and Fire/EMS Managers. ADAM helps decision-makers to
assess the many challenges they face-- budget cuts, station
relocation or consolidation, disaster planning, and Homeland Security
directives and measures.
Working in tandem with CAD Analyst, informed administrators using
ADAM can ask “What if?” questions regarding proposed changes derived
from their CAD data. With ADAM, administrators can simulate various
deployment scenarios which effectively test and evaluate the impact of
changes if implemented in the field. The model, calibrated to match
actual performance, calculates the impact of changes in workloads. The
deployment analysis is displayed as color-coded maps which can easily be
ported into presentations and reports.
Capabilities of ADAM
ADAM’s capabilities can be effectively exploited to:
- Evaluate impact of apparatus deployment changes on response performance
- Quickly evaluate impact of budget cuts
- Obtain plots of first due areas by unit capabilities
- Analyze impact of station relocation
- Compare the performances of alternate station locations
- Project line up's by zone for different call types

| Compare
ADAM provides two different scores, Incident and Coverage scores. Incident score gives the percentage of
calls that can be reached within the specified time target. The performance for the areas with high call volume is given
more weight than the areas with lower call volume.
Coverage score gives the percentage of area that can be reached within the specified time target.
The performance for all areas within the service area is equally weighted

Incident Performance

- Demonstrate impact on service/performance due to
- Annexations;
- Station location/relocation or closures;
- Apparatus relocation;
- Other field deployment changes--response plans etc;
- Assess response performance between career and volunteer units/stations
- Analyze service duplication and weaknesses between consolidated departments
- Analyze strengths and weakness of established staffing standards
